About

This spring, Bucharest will host a landmark edition of the European Young Leaders (EYL40) Annual Seminar, bringing together some of the most dynamic changemakers from across Europe. As part of the prestigious EYL40 programme, this event will serve as a key moment for the new class of 2025 to connect, collaborate and contribute to shaping the future of Europe. Over three days, participants will engage in high-level discussions, interactive workshopsand immersive experiences designed to foster new ideas and actionable solutions for Europe’s most pressing challenges.

The class of 2025 represents a new generation of forward-thinkers from across the European Union, the Western Balkans, Ukraine and Moldova. This diverse group includes tech entrepreneurs revolutionising industries, investigative journalists exposing critical issues, artists reshaping cultural narratives and policymakers steering their nations towards progress. Their backgrounds may be varied, but they are united by a shared vision: to drive meaningful change in their respective fields and beyond. This Seminar will be their first opportunity to join the EYL40 network, exchanging perspectives with peers and engaging in discussions that will influence their leadership journeys.

Taking place just one week after Romania’s presidential election, this Seminar unfolds at a pivotal moment for the country and for Europe at large. This election is not only a crucial democratic milestone but also a reflection of the evolving political landscape in the entire EU. Being the first year of a new European institutional cycle, 2025 marks the opportunity to strengthen the European project and rebuild trust with citizens. These developments will serve as a backdrop for discussions on democracy, governance and the shifting dynamics of European integration.

Beyond debating the key societal issues of our time, the Seminar will serve as a gateway for the new EYL40 cohort to immerse themselves in the breadth and richness of the programme’s network. Alongside programme alumni, senior decision-makersand influential European stakeholders, they will explore innovative approaches to policymaking and cross-sector collaboration. A special breakout session will allow participants to meet with Romanian citizens, offering valuable insights into national challenges and fostering direct engagement with local communities.
