About
2021 is a critical year to enhance the impact and reach of youth-led action on addressing biodiversity loss and climate change. At the political level, there is a unique constellation of strategic milestones to build the necessary momentum for young people to be involved at all levels of decision-making: the Biodiversity COP15 and the Climate COP-26 to the Food System Summit, and the preparation of the 6th Africa-EU Summit with the “Climate Alliance”.
The European Development Days (EDD) with their focus on the Green Deal will be a key milestone on the road to Kunming (COP15). This is why Africa Europe Foundation is proud to co-organise alongside the European Commission and partners such as Global Youth Biodiversity Network a special event on the central role of young people for a just and equitable green transformation and the protection of global biodiversity.

Schedule
The health of ecosystems on which we and all species depend is deteriorating more rapidly than ever. We are eroding the very foundations of our economies, livelihoods, food security, health and quality of life worldwide. Yet a different future is possible, the solutions to reversing these trends lie notably among those who will be most affected by them – young people. A new generation of young people and ecopreneurs has emerged and is putting the planet’s health first.
Join this session to hear more about youth’s engagement and expectations. Share your views and stories of change with EU Commissioner Jutta Urpilainen and Cristián Samper President and CEO of WCS.
