The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Bujar Osmani, today, as part of his working visit to Brussels, addressed the EU-Western Balkans Summit, organized by the renowned Brussels think tank Friends of Europe.

“The expansion of the European Union has always had a meritocratic and geopolitical aspect,” Osmani pointed out, pointing out that North Macedonia’s path to the Union was filled with extremely difficult challenges, but there was never a lack of strategic clarity around our primary foreign policy priority for membership in the European Union.

At the session entitled “EU enlargement: the new geopolitical necessity”, Osmani said that it is precisely the concept of “all or nothing” that offers no benefits to citizens before formal full membership. Hence, according to Osmani, the concept of more integration before full membership represents the best possible solution.
