The term of office of Jens Stoltenberg, who held the post of NATO Secretary General for ten years, was extended even 4 times. Since taking office in 2014, the same year Russia invaded Ukraine in Donbas, his term has been extended several times, most recently to maintain the stability of the alliance beyond 2022.

Jamie Shea, who has worked in NATO for almost 40 years, was a NATO official responsible for security challenges in the secretary general’s office, a professor and an expert at the political analysis center “Friends of Europe” in Brussels, says that Eastern Europeans have good arguments that are heard in the Alliance.
