Rose Gottemoeller and Mike Ryan are both Trustees of Friends of Europe and Members of the Steering Group of the Ukraine initiative, Friends of Europe’s newest initiative, designed to counter the ‘fatigue narrative’ of the Russia-Ukraine War and leverage support for Ukraine and its Euro-Atlantic future. The initiative brings together a coalition of foreign policy, defence and civil society leaders from the United States and Europe. Its Steering Group includes Friends of Europe Trustees and European Young Leaders (EYL40), such as Jaap de Hoop Scheffer, former secretary general of NATO; Dalia Grybauskaitė, former Lithuanian president; Kolinda Grabar-Kitarović, former Croatian president; Oleksandra Matviichuk, Ukrainian Nobel Peace Prize Laureate; and Štefan Füle, former European commissioner for neighbourhood and enlargement.
