Book Launch – Democratic Transitions: Conversations with World Leaders

About

The book Democratic Transitions: Conversations with World Leaders, co-edited by Sergio Bitar and Abraham F. Lowenthal, is a unique exploration of how countries become democracies.

The book presents personal reflections, both on ending authoritarian rule and on building democracy, by former presidents on five continents who have played key roles in such transformations over the past 30 years. This is the first significant volume in any language that focuses on learning lessons from political leaders about promoting and managing democratic transitions.

Join the International Institute for Democracy and Electoral Assistance (International IDEA) and Friends of Europe for the exclusive book launch event and witness an exceptional discussion among four highly influential current and former world leaders.

The discussion is being moderated by Shada Islam, Friends of Europe Director of Policy.
The book launch for Democratic Transitions: Conversations with World Leaders is taking place at the European Parliament on 13 October at 18.30.
