This autumn global experts and thinkers, leaders of international organisations and ministers of state join Friends of Europe to debate, connect and change policy thinking on issues related to peace, security and defence. The diversity of the participants demonstrates Friends of Europe’s commitment to a whole-of-society approach on these matters.
Top names joining us include:
Rose Gottemoeller, Deputy Secretary General, NATO
Sir Julian King, European Commissioner for the Security Union
Bert Koenders, Minister of Foreign Affairs, the Netherlands
In late September, we organise Debating Security Plus, a global online brainstorm that brings together thousands of experts to discuss six key themes, such as global terrorism and cyber defence.
In late November, we host a policy summit on Europe’s complex neighbourhood: we look to the east and south, and also consider Europe’s own security resources.
In addition to events, we produce two key publications this autumn: a report on Germany and the future of European defence, and a discussion paper on the migration-security nexus in the global context.
