Debating Security Plus is a massive online brainstorm which aims to develop innovative recommendations on some of the world’s most pressing security challenges, from cybersecurity and fighting terrorism to West-Russia relations and de-escalating nuclear tensions. It builds on Friends of Europe’s experience with other online debates and gathers over a thousand participants from all corners of the world.
From 19 June 09:00 CEST to 20 June 20:00 CEST, the 2018 event will bring together senior international participants from the military, government and multilateral institutions along with voices from NGOs and civil society, business and industry, the media, think tanks and academia.
Through Debating Security Plus, we generate concrete proposals and recommendations that can make a difference to our safety and security, as well as to sustain a more peaceful world.
This year, we would like to especially encourage young people to get their voices heard and share their ideas in relation to the six themes of the brainstorm. Therefore, we will reward the three best ideas proposed by participants aged 18-35 with a prize of 200€ each. Please make sure that you have read and understood the terms and conditions of the competition - download terms and conditions in full.
