The Paris-based think-tank EuropaNova and Friends of Europe will further professionalise and strengthen the European Young Leaders Programme in the years to come. The new partnership memorandum of understanding, reached this week, needed some time to be able to discuss ambitions and the outlook for the future, and the Boards of both organisations have meanwhile approved the multi-annual agreement, which foresees among others:
- More advanced & professional planning of selection processes and seminars
- Better structural involvement of alumni in selection process and alumni network
- Greater participation of extra strategic partners from diversified private and public organisations
- A more result-oriented approach and extra efforts on outreach & impact
A group of European Young Leaders (EYL) under 40 years old have also just been selected to participate in the prestigious 2015-2016 programme that was initially launched in 2011. The jury, composed of representatives of the two co-organisers of the European Young Leaders Programme, met under the Presidency of Enrico Letta, former Italian Prime Minister.
This high-level initiative brings together the continent’s most promising talents to contribute to Europe’s leadership through their capacity to bring together and inspire people. Each year, a group of carefully selected European Young Leaders participate in two seminars organised in symbolic cities of EU member countries where they meet and discuss the current challenges the EU faces today, both for society as a whole, as well as for all citizens.
The next seminar will take place from lunchtime on Thursday 24 September to the afternoon of Saturday 26 September. The fourth promotion of the EYL will gather in a European capital and will also have the chance to meet the alumni who will be able to help host the programme in their city, provided that some local “movers & shakers” can be mobilised to engage in a discussion with the Young Leaders, and provide help in the organisation. Part of the programme will also always be open for alumni under the same conditions as the previous occasions.
This years’ list of European Young Leaders will be published soon once all selected candidates have confirmed their participation.
