Deputy Director Security & Geopolitics
Pauline Massart leads Friends of Europe’s Peace, Security and Defence work, developing the work programme, projects and partnerships on global peace, security and defence issues. She has spearheaded specific projects like the think-tank’s 2011 global cyber-scorecard and the Security Jam, the biennial online brainstorm which gathers thousands of security experts from across the globe. She supports Friends of Europe’s work on geopolitics and contributes to Friends of Europe’s participation in H2020 projects and similar consortia. Pauline previously headed the Security & Defence Agenda from 2009 until its integration into Friends of Europe in 2014. She began her career working on energy sector transition in Germany before moving to Italy to work on multinational procurement projects for Thales. She studied at King’s College London, the Sorbonne Nouvelle in Paris, and Leiden University in the Netherlands. She speaks English, French, German and Italian. Pauline is also Vice-President for Operations and Outreach of WIIS – Women in International Security Brussels.
