The European Young Leaders ‘40 under 40’ programme promotes a European identity by engaging 40 of the EU's brightest young minds from a wide range of backgrounds.

BRUSSELS-21 November 2011 The Executive Secretary of the Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean (ECLAC), Alicia Bárcena, participated in the meeting Latin America's New Dynamic, in Brussels, Belgium, which was organized by ECLAC, the think-tank Friends of Europe and the @LIS2 Programme. More than 300 high-level participants were at the event, such as representatives from European Parliament, EUROCHAMBRES and different Latin American Missions in the European Union.

BRUSSELS, 16 November 2011-To revitalise Europe after the crisis, EuropaNova and Friends of Europe are launching the first fully European leadership program, the "40 under 40" European Young Leaders program. On the anniversary of the fall of the Berlin Wall, while the European Union is going through an unprecedented existential crisis, EuropaNova, the Paris-based “action tank” and Friends of Europe, the Brussels-based think tank, are launching a new type of leadership programme.

BRUSSELS, 13 OCTOBER 2011 - European Commission President Jose Manuel Barroso on Thursday urged quick backing and implementation of his new road map for bailing out Greece, recapitalising banks and increasing the firepower of the Eurozone rescue fund, saying these measures must be ready in time for the G20 summit in Cannes in early November and did not require a change in the treaty of the European Union.
