Green Business in China: Is Europe Defending its own interests?

Europe is a world leader in green technologies, and China too is now showing a growing interest. Around 40% of all technology transfers to China originate in the EU and green SMEs are being offered the win-win solution of combining cutting-edge technology from Europe with competitive manufacturing and China’s growing market. Is it all good news, or is there also the risk of intellectual property rights being violated? Could the China Compulsory Certification (CCC) be jeopardising confidential product information? What can Europe do to guarantee genuine patent law enforcement and ensure adequate returns on green innovation? How best can European companies profit from Chinese economic stimuli packages?

The China Advisory Council is composed of 17 experts and participation at the China Advisory Council meeting is by personal invitation only. For further information on the China Advisory Council, please refer to the Understanding China programme website or click here for press inquiries
