Creating a global health policy worthy of the name
The Sars and swine flu pandemics served as wake-up calls that disease is no longer confined to any one country’s borders and provoked unprecedented levels of cooperation between a multitude of stakeholders from governments to ordinary citizens. Nevetheless global health remains an elusive goal.

Helping Africa to feed itself: Promoting agriculture to address poverty and hunger
In sub-Saharan Africa 265 million people are undernourished, while 28% of all children under the age of five are underweight through lack of food. This discussion paper, by agricultural economist Steve Wiggins and rural development specialist Henri Leturque of the Overseas Development Institute draws on a wide range of evidence including targeted interviews of key informants to analyse the food security challenges and opportunities facing the continent while simultaneously explaining Africa’s record in food production.
