EU Commission to invest 50 billion euros in transport, energy and broadband networks

No less than three commissioners and President Barroso will present today (19 October) the new “Connecting Europe Facility”. The new financial fund will support infrastructure modernisation in the areas of transport, energy and information technologies.

The Commission hopes that project bonds backed by the European Investment Bank (EIB) will attract private capital and lead to sizeable job creation.
