Europe's development policy comes of age

Friends of Europe's Development Policy Forum organised a roundtable on 17 May which was especially timely because it took place against a background of an impasse in the World Trade Organisation’s Doha discussions, the United Nations taking a new approach to the Least Developed Countries, negotiations on reform of the Common Agricultural Policy, and the European Union considering new ideas on the Generalised System of Preferences. The key issue was how to reconcile development and trade policies.
