New NGO-business Alliance to map global water risks
The World Resources Institute has set up a new "Aqueduct Alliance" with water experts from the public and private sector to map the risk of global water shortages. The Consortium has the support of seven large companies including General Electric, Dow Chemicals, Coca Cola, and United Technologies.
The Aqueduct project will provide an online database with data on water supplies in regions of the world which are threatened by serious water shortages.
Water scarcity is increasingly seen as one of the biggest threats for economic and environmental sustainability.
