Summary

Is solar photovoltaic on the cusp of competitiveness? That was the question discussed by participants in a lively Friends of Europe lunch debate on 19 April 2011. Introducing the debate, Willy De Backer, Head of Friends of Europe's Greening Europe Forum, argued that solar photovoltaic is already established as a "mainstream technology", but asked whether its competitiveness as a viable energy alternative is being hampered by its cost.
