European worries over energy dependence and environmental responsibilities are intersecting with rising concerns over road transport issues.

What alternative fuels are gaining significant support among vehicle manufacturers, public authorities and green activists?

What should road users – from freight hauliers to private motorists – make of the claims and counter-claims of fuels like LPG, BTL biomass, hydrogen and the diesel substitute DmE (dimethyl ether), and how do EU policymakers assess them?.
