Summary of Debates.

The new EU Commission has undergone a baptism of fire at the hands of the European Parliament, but arguably begins its 5-year mandate with a strong groundswell of favourable opinion, in European capitals as much as in Brussels. The EU’s agenda is already packed with dossiers ranging from Lisbon to the constitutional treaty on which progress is crucially important, but what new horizons can the incoming Commission team develop to underpin security of Europe’s citizens, for example in areas like transport policy?

  • Jacques Barrot, Vice-President of the European Commission and EU Commissioner for Transport

With the participation of:
  • Willem de Ruiter, Executive Director, European Maritime Safety Agency
  • Patrick Goudou, Executive Director, European Aviation Safety Agency
  • Marcel Verslype, Executive Director, European Railway Agency
Moderators:
  • Jean-Dominique Giuliani, President, Fondation Robert Schuman
