A full-day conference in Madrid, organised jointly by Friends of Europe, Real Elcano de Estudios Internacionales y Estratégicos and the Association of European Journalists.

The debate will start by determining in what way the European media has the power to influence the outcome of the European Convention and what role it should play in bringing Europe closer to its citizens. The other two sessions will focus on ways of reinvigorating “Social Europe” and on Europe’s foreign and defence policies in the post-September 11 world.

The conference will bring together participants from companies, the European Institutions, national governments, academics and the press.
